A Skilled Defense Against Serious Traffic Offenses
Most people think of traffic violations as fairly minor infractions, such as speeding. However, there are some very serious traffic crimes, including hit-and-run, reckless driving, and aggressive driving (road rage). Aside from losing your license, you can also face other significant consequences for traffic violations, including:
- Increased insurance premiums
- Heavy fines
- Costly driver education courses
- Various court fees
- Points added to your driver’s license (12 points will result in suspension of your license)
Mr. Khan will work tirelessly to shield you from these harsh consequences. He will explore every avenue toward pursuing a more favorable outcome.
What Is A Moving Violation?
There are many types of moving violations in North Carolina. Some of the more common violations are:
- Speeding
- Running a red light or stop sign
- Illegally passing a stopped school bus
- Making any unsafe maneuver that causes an accident
Moving violations will result in points on your license and higher insurance premiums. Our attorney can evaluate the circumstances of your violation, your driving history and your insurance policy to come up with the best course of action.
Wondering If You Can Get Your Traffic Ticket Dismissed?
The possibility of getting a traffic ticket dismissed can depend on several factors, including:
- The nature of the violation
- Your driving record
- The jurisdiction where the ticket was issued
- The strength of the evidence against you
- Any violations of your rights during the traffic stop
- Any extenuating circumstances that may apply to your case
For minor infractions, you might be able to get the ticket dismissed through strategic plea bargaining – for example, by agreeing to attend a defensive driving course. If you’re facing a more serious violation, or if you have a history of traffic violations, dismissal might be more challenging. Our lawyer can evaluate your situation and walk you through your options.
Protecting Your License Through A Prayer For Judgment Continued
If you can’t get the ticket dismissed, another way to protect your driving privileges is to request a prayer for judgment continued (PJC). This is a fairly complex legal tool that allows you to avoid accruing points on your driver’s license or with your insurance company. You won’t accrue points or pay a fine, but the violation will be on your record.
You are only allowed a certain number of PJCs. The limits are two PJC in every five-year period to avoid points on your driver license, and one PJC every three years to avoid insurance points. It is important to note that these numbers refer to PJCs allowed per household, not per individual.
A PJC is not appropriate for every case. Our lawyer can explain whether you would benefit from requesting one.
